Zero Hours Contracts

13 April 2018, 02:00pm - 04:00pm

As the law in GB begins to look at specific aspects of these types of contract, it is vital that trade union representatives appreciate the key issues associated with these types of atypical working contracts. The recent Matthew Taylor report highlights the multifactorial employment rights issues associated with the “Gig economy” and the direction of travel with recent tribunal decisions giving some taxi drivers, couriers and plumbers “worker” status. The Employment Act (NI) 2016 makes provision for potentially regulating zero hours contracts but does not give any details. Trade union representatives need to be up to speed in this contemporary area of employment.
