Having regard for the motion adopted on Retired Members at the 2011 Congress Biennial Conference and noting the Report of the Executive Council and motion adopted at the Biennial Conference in 1995, and having regard for the experience of trade unions centres affiliated to the European Trade Union Confederation, the Biennial Conference agrees to establish a Review Committee to report on the progress which has been made since the adoption of the motion of the Biennial Conference in 2011 and particularly the call in the motion that. In order that their skills may be fully utilised within their own unions and in the wider movement, this BDC agrees that Congress will carry out a mapping exercise which will identify the role that retired members play within each union and the structures which exist to enable them to participate fully. This will enable best practice to be identified and introduced throughout the movemen to identify the services that retired members require to further their interests in developing an adequate life quality for older people to recommend changes that should be made in Trade Union structures to enable retired members to maintain their participation in the Trade Union movement to identify the role that affiliated unions have played in providing services for retired members to identify the role that Congress should play in facilitating the inclusion of retired workers in the trade union movement and in wider society to identify the resource implications for the provision of these services. The review to be undertaken and a report made to the Executive Council by January, 2014.
