Northern Ireland faces profound challenges.
Trade unions are ready to be part of the solution.
In recent times, the leadership role of the trade union movement has been vindicated and widely supported for its principled and responsible defence of the interests of working
people and their families from all communities.
Unions took the lead on diagnosing the challenges and outlining the steps required to achieve sustainable public finances. This movement representing over 200,000 working people is ready and able to step up to play its full part in moving Northern Ireland into a place where prosperity for every family is matched by the progressive transformation of our society.
This new document is intended to dovetail with Smart Money. It’s first objective is to introduce the case for a social dialogue model including trade unions as equal partners. To date the voice of the workforce, through their trade unions, has been excluded from such considerations.
