financial crisis in schools

Congress notes with concern the ongoing financial crisis in schools.  

Congress further notes the rising energy costs which are predicted to add more than 60% to existing costs across the education sector.  

Congress calls on the employing authorities to immediately increase the funding allocation to schools from central funds to ensure that; 

1. School budgets are adjusted appropriately to cover these unprecedented inflationary increases 

2. Schools are funded sufficiently to guarantee heating levels meet the legal requirements and further ensure that education workers, pupils and young people’s health and safety is not negatively compromised. 

3. there will be no reduction in staffing levels across schools due to the increase in  energy costs 

4. there will be no impact on the education provision in schools that would flow from any reduction in such staffing levels, or the life chances of our young people going forward.
