The Congress Youth Committee has launched an online guide designed to inform young workers in Northern Ireland about their rights at work.
The Your Rights at Work guide is a living document, meaning it will be continuously updated to reflect changes in employment law and workers’ rights. This resource is a vital tool for empowering young workers by providing them with clear, accessible information on their entitlements, including the right to join a trade union.
Ronan Sharkey, Youth Committee Chair said,
This guide is an essential resource for young people across Northern Ireland, as too many enter the workforce without a full understanding of their rights. When young workers know what they’re entitled to, they’re better equipped to demand fair treatment, safe working conditions, and decent pay. I commend the ICTU Youth Committee for their hard work in bringing this invaluable resource to life.
Maeve Richardson, vice-chair said,
This guide is not only about educating young workers—it’s a reminder that they can be part of a broader movement that’s working to secure and expand their rights and protections through trade union membership. We hope to see this guide widely distributed across Northern Ireland, helping more young workers get the support they need.
