Motion no: 6

Proposing
NIPSA

The heartfelt hope of genuine trade unionists for maximum unity against the bosses and in the interests of our members is to be admired and commended. It is essential that if this aspiration is to be achieved then it must not just be the stuff of a well delivered platform speech but must be constantly strived for by union leaders and on the ground amongst members.

Conference recognises that every trade union is a sovereign body with its own constituency, policies and procedures but this does not preclude working together in the interests of all our members.

Conference calls on the NI Committee to work more strenuously for the maximum unity in action across all unions and, where the action of any union comes up short, to make every effort to remedy the situation.  Unity of purpose is particularly important in the very difficult times we currently face.
